MANE 6319 - Quality Management Systems
Summer 2025
Welcome
Welcome to MANE 6319 - Quality Management Systems! This is one of my favorite courses teach! I have industrial experience in quality, quality improvement, and quality management. Once, I attended a seminar led by Dr. Deming whom you will hear more about later in the course. This course is designed to incorporate quality management concepts and practices.
Personal Information
This is an old picture that I have included in my Welcome page for years. It was created using a neural network that transferred the style from van Gogh's Starry Night painting (shown below my picture) to a picture that I took in my office.
There are several personal facts that can be found by examining the picture. Penants from my two Alma Maters: Pan American University and Texas A&M are on the bulletin board on the left side of the picture. Above my head to the right, is a stained glass planter that I created. It does not contain a plant but a minion. Unfortunately, plants have a nasty and frequent habit of dying when they are in my care :)
I have created a newer picture shown below using ChatGPT. This was a popular fad for a while to create a picture of yourself as an action figure using ChatGPT.
This picture displays a lot of person information about me. First of all, I am holding a fly rod and reel. Unfortunately, I do not get to spend as much time fly fishing or tying flies as I would like. The top compartment on the right-hand side contains a pen. I am an avid pen maker and made about 60 pens and pencils last year. The second compartment contains an image of a Can-am Ryker. I own a Ryker and try to drive to campus as frequently as possible. My wife and I also own a Can-am Spyder and we hope to take motorcycle trips/tours soon. There is kayak below the Ryker. My wife and I own three kayaks. Once again, we do not get to take them out as often as I would like.
Brightspace
This semester will be first time that Brightspace is used as a replacement for Blackboard at UTRGV. I ask for everyones' patience as we together learn a new learning management system.
