PCB Assembly: This is the printed circuit board where all of the electronic components of the mouse are placed. It is placed into the Base by the second operator in the subassembly workstation.

Critical Assembly Points:

-Base for USB Cable Connector (Checked for and recorded by Operator #3 in the Product Assembly Workstations): The connection point for the USB Cable has 5 metal pins which are fragile and can bend easily during assembly if not enough care is given to the procedure.

The number of damaged Pin Bases is recorded at the end of every shift.

-Electrical Short Circuit on PCB (Checked for and recorded by Staff in the Final Inspection & Packaging Department): Prior to packaging the finished mouse, it is put through a series of test to determine that all functions are working correctly. If the mouse fails any of these test then the PCB board has a Short Circuit.

-Defective Switches (Checked for and recorded by Staff in the Final Inspection & Packaging Department): The functionality of all the switches mounted on the PCB is also tested prior to packaging the finished mouse. There are 3 Push Button Momentarily ON type of switches and an Optical Light Sensor & Emitter that detects the movement of the Scroll Wheel. A series of tests determine that all switches are working correctly. If the mouse fails any of these test then the mouse is rejected.
